It's a robin's nest!
I did my best to avoid disturbing the nest, though I had to place it on the
one chair I could leave in the hangar. I didn't notice the original position
of the parasol, so did my best to conceal the nest, but leaving access for the
parent bird.
And yes, a robin has been sitting on the eggs!
The robin is famous for its unusual nesting places, especially those in and
around the garden - old kettles are often used where provided. More unusual
sites have included: coat pockets, letter boxes, the skeletons of animals,
items of machinery, filing cabinets, old tins, old boots and even unmade beds.
A more usual site is in a hollow or a bank on the woodland floor.
